Mike Rupp, former Erie Otter drafted ninth overall by the Islanders in 1998 and 76th overall by New Jersey in 2000 when he re-entered the draft, was re-signed by New Jersey for the 2006-07 season.  Rupp had been traded to Phoenix by New Jersey in March 2004. The New Jersey Devils took the ice officially for the first time at their 2006 training camp  on Friday, September 15, 2006 at their South Mountain training facility in West Orange, NJ.
